Dr Phillips in Orlando Florida is relatively small area located west of I-4 and Universal Studios. This Census-Designated area is unincorporated to this date making it one of several in Orange County Florida. The area is famous for many things which we shall address but it would not exist if it were not for Philip Phillips (yes they are spelled differently) who was an extremely generous man and a pioneer in the citrus industry. In the 1920's he owned land in 9 separate Florida Counties and many of the communities in Dr Phillips including Bay Hill were actually growing Oranges for him.
Dr Phillips is now highly though of for many reasons. Just a few of those reasons are the Dr Phillips Community Park, Dr P Phillips YMCA and of course the schools which also bear his name. These and a couple of other significant items are made possible by Dr Phillips Charities which still maintains an office building at 7400 Dr Phillips Blvd. The famous Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is located in Downtown Orlando at 445 S Magnolia Avenue. It was completed recently at a cost of well over 500 million dollars.
Dr Phillips Restaurant Row is located on W Sand Lake Road and runs through the center east to west of Dr Phillips. Some of the finest dining and restaurants in all of Orlando are located on this road and all lie between Interstate-4 and Apopka Vineland Road on the eastern and western ends respectively. Many a palate has been and will be satisfied on Restaurant Row and it is one of the favorite places to dine at of our Broker and staff. I would drop a few of the names but since there are so many it just wouldn't be fair. Trust me, you can find what you love here and will not be disappointed.
The Dr Phillips Community Park is located in the southernmost portion of what is called Dr Phillips. You will find the entrance on Buena Vista Woods Blvd immediately south of Sand Lake Elementary School. This is a surprisingly popular park and if you visit it you will probably see a good amount of people there year round. There is plenty of parking and that alone shows that the layout was well thought out. There's a dog park for large and small dogs, splashpad, sports fields and on yes it is lakefront. I often go to the park if I am in the area just to sit and have something to eat while watching a ballgame etc. If you prefer and live close there are sidewalks for walking all of the way into the park.
In closing I know his family has to be proud of this area. You will probably love it as well and would be proud to call it home. The southern end is the newest portion and to this day is getting better. A quick drive down South Apopka Vineland Road will show you all you need to know about South Dr Phillips in Orlando FL.
