The average water temperature in Cocoa Beach is still around 70 degrees in the winter months. The Atlantic Coast is very near the gulf stream and since Cocoa Beach is in Central Florida the air temps are usually just fine for a winter season beach trip. Obviously it is far more crowded on Memorial Day Weekend. You will love the pristine blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean as those same ocean currents keep the beaches warmer.
If there are to many dangerous rip tides and you wish to or are advised to avoid swimming there are plenty of other things to do. Weather conditions are usually perfect but occasionally a tropical storm may approach and so give the rip currents etcetera proper respect even if surfing. The waves may look tempting as water activities but stick to or very close to shore.
Explore the shops, bars and local events available both day and night. This is after all a city that is nearly 5 miles long north to south. Designed for tourist and a vacation hot spot there is much more here than just fun in the sun and beautiful white sand.
