No, there are not gators in Lake Eola, at least not Alligators. In order for an alligator to reach the lake it would have to walk through town. Other than that there are several reasons gators would not like Lake Eola. There is no cover for them on the lakeshore, the water gets cold and the water is clear.
Lake Eola is what I would call a great place for wildlife. There are 6 species of swans one of which is the paddleboat that you can rent for $15 per person at 30 minute intervals. Countless other birds, squirrels and visiting pets/ service animals can be seen there all day long as well as in much of downtown Orlando.
Alligator Alligators As A General Rule do like freshwater lakes. When a alligator encounters a human usually the best thing is to not get close. They do make sounds that they associate with aggression and threats. An experienced person can make the right sound and the gator will likely flee to the water. Other sounds can actually attract them to your location especially mimicking the sounds of very young hatchlings. In Central Florida nuisance gators are usually transported to Lake Jesup by Florida Fish and Game etc. Lake Jesup is to the northeast of the city.
I have lived in Florida forever. Normally if I am in the water and an alligator under 5 feet comes near me I stay in the water with it. However, anything over 5 feet and I am getting out. Full grown alligators which are female only get up to 8 feet long and trust me that is a big strong alligator you want nothing to do with. They are solid muscle, teeth and claws. They are normally in or have been in every freshwater lake because they just walk from lake to lake like we go to the supermarket or restaurants.
