Lake Eola is the famous lake in downtown Orlando Florida. Lake Eola Park is the large park the encompasses Lake Eola. The Allen Memorial Fountain is the name of the beautiful fountain in the middle of Lake Eola that park visitors all remember.
The natural environment, beauty of nature and the serenity we feel when near a large body of water are no doubt the largest draws the park offers. It is also nice to know you can break away from the typical downtown Orlando atmosphere so easily. The attractions you can easily spot from any spot on the shoreline are the Allen Memorial Fountain and the Walt Disney Amphitheater which is the rainbow colored shell shaped theater on the northwest corner of the lake.
Lake Eola Park also has swan boats that can be rented in half hour increments that are located on the east side of the Walt Disney Amphitheater. These swan boats are paddle boats which can hold up to 5 people and 1,400 lbs. There is a accessible swan boat for those who otherwise may have difficulty. The Orlando Farmers Market is held weekly on Sundays. It is actually not all around the lake but rather on the southeast shore. This is a massive farmer's market and typically there are many other activities occurring simultaneously on summer days. Some of these activities will include the walking path that circles through this Orlando FL public park. Others throughout the year are held in various places in Orlando FL downtown.
The land for Lake Eola Park was originally donated to the city or Orlando FL by the Summerlin Family. When the Summerlin Family donated it the placed in a stipulation about the upkeep of the park or the land reverts to the family. I doubt Orlando FL will ever allow the upkeep to slide.
This beautiful lake located in the heart of the park is fed by a natural aquifer. It is a rather clear lake but also has a slight tint to it to prevent algae growth etcetera. many of the birds inhabiting lake Eola Park use it as a permanent home. They may occasionally visit some of the surrounding lakes but rear their young here.
Some of those surrounding lakes are Lake Virginia, Lake Conway, Lake Fairview, Lake Apopka, Lake Pickett, Lake Holden and Lake Killarney. Although no water sports are allowed on Lake Eola some of the best lakes nearby allow them. See you soon at beautiful lake Eola Park Orlando's most famous lake.
