South Tampa FL

South Tampa FL is one of the most desirable places to live in FL. South Tampa is located between Hillsborough Bay and Old Tampa Bay and bordered by MacDill Airforce Base on it's southern border. Although this area seems at first glance to be quite small it actually is not. Contained in this portion of Tampa Florida are some amazing and unique areas as well as some incredible communities and real estate.

Homes For Sale in South Tampa

South Tampa has areas that serve as attractions as far as marketing goes. Namely Bayshore Blvd on the eastern side and Hyde Park on the eastern side although Hyde Park is not fully part of South Tampa to some people. Hyde Park is where you will find the Pirate Ship.

Bayshore Blvd

Bayshore Blvd. lays claim to the longest continual sidewalk in the United States. A whopping 4.5 miles long from end to end and what a gorgeous path that it is. On the east you will have the views of Hillsborough Bay and occasionally the ships passing through. Every morning brings a sunrise and every evening the colors and lights of Downtown Tampa remind you of the special place that you get to call home. Some of the condos you will see on Bayshore Blvd cost in excess of 5 million dollars. The view, the location and the city convince their owners they are worth that price.

Hyde Park

Hyde Park in South Tampa FL consists mainly of SOHO (South Howard Avenue Trendy Mecca), Hyde Park Village (shopping & dining) and the northern portion of Bayshore Blvd. This portion of Tampa is in the 33606 zip code and homes have a median sales price of around $635,000 which is slightly above the median price for South Tampa. This area is adjacent to the University of Tampa which is why you will see some many younger people in the area. Expect to see trendy shopping, dining and sometimes challenging parking if you have a SUV or larger car. My wife and I usually prefer this area when we are out and about at lunch or dinner. We are a little old for this area but, it was actually settled in the 1880's so I guess we are ok.

South Tampa Reality

South Tampa and Tampa in general is primarily about the Bay. If it was not for the ports, the ships and the bayfront homes they would call this place Orlando. But this place is much more than Orlando thanks to the ocean. From South Tampa there are two main paths to the beach. Once you reach either US 275 on the north side or the Selmon Expressway to the south you will be setting on the beach shortly. Traffic north and south in South Tampa can be a bear if you time it inccorectly. It however will not take you long to learn your way around or determine that the area is just worth it.

Western South Tampa FL

Finally we are to one of my favorite locations. I love living on the water and so do many others. I also love boating and setting outside with friends and family in the evening. Sounds great right? You to can live this way along the western shore. There are numerous communities where boat docks are available or a slip in the marina. Come and join us won't you?
