Central Florida and Orlando offer better living than Miami for most people. When you visit Miami you will find out fairly quickly that Miami Beach and South Beach are more trouble than they are worth. I have lived in both locations, both have their advantages but Orlando has more. Most people agree after visiting Miami.
To some this is the first comparison that comes to mind. Both Orlando and Miami have a lot of different attraction but this are the major draws that each city offers. Yes, South Beach is amazing once you get to it but this is another example of why Orlando wins.
It usually takes most people living in the Miami area well over an hour because of traffic to get to the best beaches. Orlando because of the highway systems is 1 hour from Cocoa Beach, downtown Orlando is one hour from Daytona Beach and southwest Orlando is about 1:45:00 from Clearwater Beach. All of these beaches have everything most people go to the beach for. Visit Miami in South Florida, but move to Orlando.
Can you name a any theme parks in Miami? Can you name any theme parks in South Florida? Everyone in the civilized world can name the theme parks in Central Florida. Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, Disney Springs and Universal Studios draw over 50,000,000 visitors a year. Orlando hotels are world famous and downtown Orlando is much nicer and more habitable than downtown Miami is.
I lived in Miami for years and tolerated Miami traffic. I also had to pay more money for every type of insurance. Both Miami and Orlando have their expenses but just the cost of homeowner's insurance when it comes to Orlando vs Miami makes some Miami residents look for a new city. Sad really as I love the Latin culture and have several Cuban ladies in my family. But, as for a family friendly destination Orlando wins again.
