If you will be using the Daniel Webster (429) Western Beltway you just go north on Avalon. there are two access points within just a few minutes.

Shopping is actually fairly easy also. Most likely for now you will take Avalon to New Independence Parkway. Lots of shopping can be done there and more is on the way. Publix, Walmart, Restaurants, Movie theater and a whole lot more are already there.
