The city of Winter Garden had a population of 41,988 according to the 2016 Census. That has grown from the 2000 census when the population was just 14,351.That is a great deal of people who need housing, and will in turn be selling the homes which they live in. This assures a decent amount of homes for sale in the city and zipcode. Winter Garden Florida is very much a growing area. The areas in the Southern portion of the zip code are growing very rapidly.

If you choose a house for sale or for rent in Northern Winter garden then most of your shopping will be at the Winter Garden Village. If you move to Winter Garden South You Will likely be shopping in Independence or one of the many new shops and stores being built in Horizons West. However Even if you live in Southern 34787 there are many things to do and the Daniel Webster or Interstate 4 can get you to Downtown Orlando fairly Quickly.

There are numerous legends how Winter Garden got its name. After reading them all I believe the most likely is this. A group of local Orange growers met at a picnic on Plant and Main Street. The growers had built a small railroad depot and needed a name for the stop. So they went with the area's nickname Winter Garden. It had received that nickname in the late 1880's. some local workers had spit tomato seeds on the ground. Tomato plants grew and flourished throughout the winter. The workers nicknamed the area Winter Garden.

The Oldest Home In the city of Winter Garden. 

 I am normally somewhat of a purest. So here is the home that has changed the least. It now has electricity and a screened in porch. However it is mostly original. Since it has someone actually living in it I will not give the location. For their sake I am thankful it has electricity and a screened in porch. It was built around 1910 by a famous local business owner and of course resident. A far Cry from the Winter Garden fl homes for sale today.

 

Local Museums center around the Rail Road. Shipping out first lumber from all around Lake Apopka. Then in produce and ultimately in the 1940's refrigerated orange juice. Schools are fairly easy to research. Thousands of parents in Winter garden have been satisfied with the public education system here. Many of the students have gone on to be very successful. Overall very similar results to most of Florida's educational system. Or of course you have some really great private options.If you balance out your community times to the school zones do not worry. We can shop for your new home by school zone. This is where a great Realtor comes in handy. Winter Garden has a lot to offer no matter how high of a activity level you are seeking. If it is fishing then we have plenty of freshwater lakes. If it is Golfing then this is Florida. By the way the courses here in Winter Garden may not be as famous as Isleworth or Keens's Pointe but they are very challenging and probably more accessible for the average person. If you are into the outdoors then Winter Garden has one of the best hiking, jogging, bicycling, horseback riding trails in all of Florida known as the West Orange Trail. The trail stretches 22 miles across Western Orange County beginning at Killarney Station in Oakland and ending at Welch Rd in Apopka. Safety is covered by arkers and bicycle patrolling police officers. There are plenty of restrooms and touristy things along they way.Anything you need you can rent for a somewhat reasonable price.

The Best Shopping in Winter Garden Fl

You would have to start off this list with the Winter Garden Village. I end up there all of the time. If you are lake a lot of families you will have pizza occasionally. If you do I recommend the Uno Pizza in the WGV. You can still go there to eat also. They have a curbside pickup for when you order. There is also Lowes, Super Target LA Fitness and probably everything you will ever need.

Next up will be Stoneybrook West Village. For those living to the Southwest a few minutes this is a great place to shop for groceries at Publix or grab a bite. There is also childcare there etc. It is not anywhere as large as Winter Garden Village but it is great for locals or passer-bys.

I would be remiss if I did not mention that there is a mall in Ocoee. Ocoee borders Winter Garden and many Winter Garden residents end up visiting this mall. It is called the West Oaks Mall. Their website stinks so I just linked to the stores there. I have never been in this mall. I would go the the movie theater there it just is not the most convenient place for me to drive to.

Lakeside Village is a shopping complex in Southern Winter Garden. It is small but has a lot of what you would need there. Restaurants, hair salon, pet stores , immediate care center a gas station and more.

Very soon there will be many new options in Southwestern Winter Garden Florida. There is currently a massive movie theater, Publix and much more being built. All part of the Horizons West project you may have hear about. There already is a Walmart Super Center there and I am sure they were thrilled to see all of the competition moving in.

One of the many great things about Winter Garden is the 429 or the Daniel Webster will get you around Orlando etc very quickly. So Let's jump on it and go to the best shopping nearby.

The Orlando Premium Outlets Mall is 20-25 minutes away from the 429 on ramp by Stoneybrook West Golf Club. This outlet is probably the most popular in all of Orlando. If you like outlet stores you should definitely visit it. It is easy to get to and the Mall is only about 1 mile from Universal Resort. There is a great selection of store there as you would expect for a large city mall.

Next up Would be the Mall at Millenia. The Mall at Millenia is a high end retail Mall. It is not that large but it is very nice and filled with places to spend lots of money. People refer to it as upscale shopping in articles about Orlando. I'm a middle aged man I do not hang out at malls but this one is nice and I have been to it. The link will take you to a video walkthrough of the mall that I made for this site. Drive time 20-25 minutes.

Finally we have the Florida Mall.The Florida Mall is the most popular mall in Orlando. It does have some really neat stores in it such as Crayola, M&M store and of course a Disney store. Just incase you have visited Disney and just can not get enough of it.Once again the link goes to a Florida Mall Page with a video of the mall. The Video is of the Mall on a slow day as soon as it opened for exercise. I did not want to put up with a crowd. It is normally much more crowded. A large mall should be. There is ample security there both in the parking lot and walking around in the mall. Drive time 20-25 minutes.

Bass Pro Shops. It's only fair. Yes there is a Bass Pro Shop here in the area. It is a huge one as you would expect for central Florida and Orlando. You can be there in 20-30 minutes if you time it right. However plan on 30 minutes plus. Especially until you learn the area and the short cuts. I actually do not have a transponder for the turnpike. All of my driving is through the rural areas and cities. Once you get used to Windermere and Winter Garden you will see why. The drives are all closer than you expect and if you time them right they are really nice.
