Yes, Lake Eola is a giant sinkhole. The actual sinkhole is 100 feet east of the Allen Memorial Fountain that looks like it is in the center of Lake Eola. The lake is just under 1 mile in circumference and about 28 feet deep.
The Lake Eola House was built in 1924 and sets along the side of the lake Eola Park loop. It is just one of many attractions you should stop by and see on your stroll. Other attractions for park visitors include the following.
Artistic Sculptures
Japanese Rock Garden
Lake Eola Fountain
Many Species of Swans
Orlando Farmers Market (Sundays)
Walt Disney Amphitheater
Ok, so that is actually the theme parks to the south. Namely Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. However a case could easily be built for this being the top spot to visit for free, other than parking. I am probably the biggest advocate that is not a city employee of Lake Eola Park. My favorite thing is attending the Orlando Farmers market and a close second is viewing the choreographed light show in the evenings while looking over the amazing skyline. See you soon in Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando.
