West Orange High School is a school serving grades 9-12 in Winter Garden Florida. Although located in Winter Garden the school also serves parts of Lake Butler, Oakland, Ocoee and Tildenville. It is a public school with an enrollment of over 4,000 students. The opening of Windermere High School may have lowered that number somewhat.
The school was built in the 1970's at a price of just 6.5 million dollars. But of course a new corvette was just around $12,000. We all know how that worked out. The school was originally designed using the "open school concept". Some of those concepts are still retained but several including the no classroom doors idea have been, modified.
The West Orange Warrior Band has been marching and playing loud and proud for over 30 years now. The band has been invited to play on the national stage on many occasions. Just a few of those venues include the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade, Macy's Thanks Giving Day Parade and the 2008 Florida Citrus Bowl Parade. Recently the band received the Blue Ribbon Program of Excellence by the NBA. The National Band Association.
There are also Choir, Theater, Aerospace Science and many more. Students can start their own programs as long as they adhere to school guidelines.
West Orange has over 30 teams involved in 18 different sports. As you can see in the video the athletic program has a lot of space allocated to it. With the growth being experienced in Winter Garden and the surrounding areas the future is bright for athletic talent at West Orange. More talent will continue to bring the success that helps fill the bleachers at many a home game. I can hear those cheers now at West orange High School.
