Lake Tibet Orlando FL  

Lake Tibet is a member of the Butler Chain of Lakes. Lake Tibet’s also a very large lake and excellent for fishing or watersports. Some locals refer to the lake as Tibbet, some Tibet and some Tibet Butler. Usually you will hear some variation of those when people refer to the lake. I use Lake Tibet because the government bodies refer to it as Lake Tibet and let’s be honest, how do you get Tibbet from Tibet?

Lake Tibet measures 2.12 miles from its’ northernmost point to the channel leading from lake Tibet to Lake Sheen. From west to east it is 1.14 miles wide at its’ widest point and just under 2,000 feet wide from Bay Point on the east and Keene’s Pointe on the western shore. Speaking of shore-line the lake has 8.6 miles of shoreline. The total surface area is 1,070 acres translating to 1.69 square miles which is more than enough room for skiing, or fishing all day long. The lake holds an astonishing 6.415 Billion gallons of water and has an average mean depth of 20 feet.

Lake Tibet has several boat ramps but they are all controlled use. One is in Keene’s Pointe on Unnamed Lake. There is a channel to Lake Tibet and you can pass through it. Sometimes it is challenging for a decent sized boat. Another boat ramp is at Bay Point Marina. It is limited as well but I should mention that there are fishing guides in Bay Point you can charter there. Most people that use Lake Tibet will launch in RD Keene Park or the Orange County Sportsman’s Association. RD Keene has excellent parking and is only $5 and the Orange County Sportsman’s Assn.is on Lake Sheen which is to Lake Tibet’s south and connected via channel. There is also a ramp near the club in Isleworth and as you guessed, it is very limited use (private). One additional bit of advice. Lake Tibet can get a little rough because of it’s length. When the wind blows hard from the north or south.

The North Shores

Starting off at Lake Tibet’s northernmost point and working clockwise this is what you will find. On the North between Lakes Palmer and Lake Chase or as some say Lake Isleworth and Lake Chase you have the Isleworth club. If you get close to it on a boat you will notice a couple of things. The club is kind of small for such an incredible community, there is a boat ramp and huge power lines.

The Eastern Shore

To the east across the channel leading to lake Chase is Emerson Pointe. Emerson Pointe is a guarded and gated community. Lakefront homes on Lake Tibet in Emerson Pointe have sold for up to nearly $3,000,000. Just to the east and south you run into Bay Hill. Some of the Bay Hill homes on Lake Tibet has sold for as little as $800,000 but you will find it hard to get one for under $1,000,000 even if you have a poor view of the lake. Some of the lakefront homes have lakefront property but the view could be better. Some opt for a Condo in Bay Point Marina. The Marina is large and it has easy access to everything in Bay Point and Lake Tibet.

Bay Point is to the west and of Bay Hill Marina and is one of the most exclusive communities in Orlando. There are 27 lakefront homes in Bay Point. You will not find one for under $1,000,000 but several have sold for less than $2,000,000. To the south is more Bay Hill homes and Bentley Park. Bentley Park has some very impressive homes on the lake. Bentley Park is also a gated community and is known for its’ classy homes and red paver streets. Having those awesome Lake Tibet sunsets helps its’ reputation.

South of Bentley Park is Cypress Point. The lakefront homes here will run all of the way west to the channel. Expect to pay from $2,000,000 to $6,000,000 for one of these Lakefront on Lake Tibet homes. Cypress Point is also a guarded and gated community. It has many homes which are not lakefront.

Western Shore

On the west side of the channel is Cypress Shores. A tiny non-gated community with a variety of homes. These are some of the most reasonably priced homes on Lake Tibet. You can get a home here for under $2,000,000 and may get luckier than that. To the north west of Cypress Shores is the Tibet Butler Nature Preserve. It takes up a good portion of the lake. Then just passed it you have Keene’s Pointe. Keene’s Pointe lakefront homes have occasionally sold for over $4,000,000.
